As a result of my emetophobia, I’ve had to make some significant sacrifices when it comes to the food I consume. I’m incredibly selective with my choices, only opting for dishes that I know won’t upset my stomach. This means that I end up eating the same meals every single day, but it’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind it brings me. In terms of fruits, I stick with a short list of options that I can trust. Oranges and strawberries are two of the only fruits that I allow myself to eat, but I don’t consume them separately. Instead, I prefer to drink orange juice to give my immune system a boost in light of the ongoing pandemic. I also enjoy eating strawberry jelly with my toast, as it’s a delicious way to incorporate this fruit into my daily routine. Not only does it taste great, but I can also feel good about the fact that it’s good for me. While I wouldn’t necessarily say that oranges and strawberries are my absolute favorite fruits, I do like them and feel confident about eating them. They’ve become staples in my diet, and I’m grateful to have found ways to incorporate them into my restricted eating habits.
